Social Programme

Tuesday 9th March, 2010
A welcome reception will take place following the Keynote Address in the Atrium of the Rochestown Park Hotel. This is the ideal opportunity for delegates to meet friends, old and new.


Wednesday 10th March, 2010
The Conference Gala Dinner will be held in the Estuary Suite in the Rochestown Park Hotel. This evening begins with a drinks reception, followed by sumptuous food and an exciting entertainment programme.

Cost: included in registration fee for delegates.
Not included in the student fee. Supplement of €75.00 per ticket.


Optional Tours

For a relatively small island, Ireland offers a large variety of entertainment, scenery and culture. The social programme we have drawn up offers delegates and accompanying persons the opportunity to sample the atmosphere and hospitality for which Ireland is famous worldwide.

Cork City Tour (Half Day Tour)
This fully guided tour gives you an overall flavour of this historic and ancient city. You will enjoy the opportunity of visiting some of the key landmarks including St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, the English Market and Cork City Gaol.

Midleton Distillery & Fota House (Half Day Tour)
This tour takes you to the picturesque region of East Cork to include a visit to Fota House, one of the finest examples of regency architecture in Ireland and set in superb gardens. The tour will also include a visit to Midleton where you will enjoy The Jameson Experience with whiskey tasting, of course!

Kinsale (Half Day Tour)
Kinsale is one of Ireland’s prettiest towns situated just 20 miles from Cork. It was the site of a battle in 1601 that was a turning point in Irish history. For over 300 years, it was a garrison town and port of consequence, leaving a legacy of Georgian and Victorian architecture. The tour will include a visit to Charlestown Fort, one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th Century star-shaped fort as well as some free time to wander through the narrow streets to enjoy the shops and galleries.
